  • The operator, which in December 2025 submitted the entirety of the mandatory localities to Subtel for reception and authorisation, marks a new milestone within the 5G Project by now having 100% of the sites authorised.

Santiago, 4 March 2026. – Within the framework of the agreement signed in October 2025 with the State Defence Council (CDE), and following the receipt of the latest official communication dated 3 March, WOM is pleased to announce that 100% of the mandatory localities awarded under the 5G Project have now received authorisation from Subtel to provide connectivity in the most remote areas of Chile.

With this important milestone, the company consolidates its territorial presence with more than 6,300 of its own antennas and reaffirms its commitment to reducing the digital divide, bringing coverage to communities and sectors that have historically remained on the margins of major technological advances.

It is worth noting that the 366 authorised localities not only required the deployment of critical infrastructure in challenging geographical contexts, but also involved significant coordination with various authorities, technical teams and local communities. Among the most remote sites are the Juan Fernández Archipelago, Antarctica, Rapa Nui, Caleta Los Pozos, Tierra del Fuego, among others.

“Each site built is fundamental to the country’s social, digital and productive development, opening up new opportunities in areas such as education, healthcare and local entrepreneurship, among other services. This milestone goes beyond technical compliance; it is a concrete sign of our commitment to narrowing the digital divide for the benefit of millions of people,” stated María Paz Cerda, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at WOM.

WOM’s arrival in different areas across the national territory confirms the company’s purpose of providing connectivity to the more than 20 million inhabitants of Chile and, in doing so, reducing the digital divide. With more than 6,300 of its own antennas, WOM reaches further to be closer, positioning itself as one of the operators with the widest national coverage.
