- The company improved its energy performance by 14.1% of its energy footprint by optimizing 1.8 GWh of energy, which in turn prevented the emission of 1,044 tons of CO₂.
Santiago, April 2026. WOM continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability, improving its energy performance by 14.1% thanks to the optimization of its network sites and data centers—responsible for more than 80% of its energy demand—achieving a 1.8 GWh improvement in just one year.
This result was made possible through the implementation of its Energy Management System (EMS), certified in 2025 under the international standard ISO 50001. In addition, the environmental impact of this initiative had a direct effect on the atmosphere, preventing the emission of 1,044 tons of CO₂, equivalent to planting 55,000 trees.
“We will continue advancing along this path. We are committed to bringing connectivity to millions of people across Chile, but at the same time, we have the responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. One year after achieving certification of our Energy Management System, we now see that significant results are possible when this goes beyond a single area and becomes part of the entire company,” said David Aguilar, Energy Manager at WOM.
In 2025, WOM certified its Energy Management System under the ISO 50001 standard, which establishes the requirements for managing energy within an organization and is the most widely used framework globally for corporate energy management. In January 2026, following a follow-up audit, IRAM Chile verified the company’s compliance with the commitments made during the certification process.
