In conversation with Rodrigo Baudrand, Director of New Business at WOM, the executive reveals how the company is working on a value offer that goes beyond connectivity, delivering customized solutions and accompanying the digital transformation of small and medium-sized companies in the country.
How does connectivity impact businesses?
Every day, thousands of entrepreneurs throughout Chile turn their efforts to improve their products, services, proposals and also to be more competitive in the market. In this line, for the business base of a country to grow, a balance between micro, small and medium enterprises and their constant organic growth is required. However, for these innovative ideas to meet the great opportunities, it is essential to build links between the different actors.
The business segment has become increasingly important. What is the factor that makes WOM Negocios the best alternative?
The differential factor of WOM Negocios arises from a clear diagnosis, which is the basis for delivering a better service and experience to our customers every day: The “business” segment is not uniform.
For example, a store that sells groceries does not need the same as a company dedicated to the optimization of agriculture or that sells cosmetic products. This is where the opportunity arises to provide customized support to different types of companies, where the offer provided by most of the telecommunications industry is not adjusted to the heterogeneous needs of each entrepreneur.
So, how do you optimize your service to the business segment?
WOM Negocios is focused on enhancing its capacity to serve SMEs and startups. To do so, we set out to deliver a customized product, which covers everything from the service itself, the rates and even 24/7 attention in case they require it. Today no telco delivers anything like this.
How has it been perceived by your customers?
Our customers value our proposal in terms of the offer, but also in terms of the service. We know that many times businesses do not rest, even more so when they are one-person businesses, led by families or small teams, and permanent help is highly valued.
We want that trust to expand and be maintained, and that through our network they connect with the essence of their business and at the same time with their own customers.
You mentioned the importance of “connecting to the essence” of business. Beyond the offer, how do you promote that connection?
Since we started operating nine years ago, we have stood out for being disruptive; it is in our essence. This is reflected in how we broke into an industry, until then, very traditional, and how we have managed to reinvent ourselves over time. Today we have the largest 5G network in the country, we are the 2nd operator in mobile connections, we have 26% market share, we have led portability for 86 months and we were recently recognized once again for delivering the best customer experience by Procalidad.
But we also want to generate that social impact that allows the divergence of ideas to converge at one point. This is where the alliance with the NGO Emprende tu Mente, one of the most recognized entrepreneurship initiatives in Chile and Latin America, arises. During 2024, we will be at EtM Day for the second consecutive year, connecting entrepreneurs and their ideas with the ecosystem and networking networks that take place there.
Specifically, what will you offer to EtM Day attendees in its 2024 version?
At WOM we are convinced that what takes place in this event is fundamental for the development and growth of the country. This year we are offering more than 80 free mentorships with leaders from different areas of WOM, workshops for entrepreneurs, in addition to all our support to build networking networks.
This year we want to give visibility to 10 entrepreneurs and for this, we launched a contest in which they can participate for a booth where they can publicize their business, connect with investors, with other companies and with unlikely peers. I invite you to participate at wom.cl/negocios/etmday.
