  • In the lead-up to Valentine’s Day, Tinder surpassed 2,000 GB of usage, while mobile traffic on apps such as Bumble and Grindr increased by 20% and 42%, respectively.
  • In 2025, a total of 538,563 gigabytes were allocated to applications such as Tinder, Badoo, Bumble, Grindr, and Happn.

Santiago, February 16, 2026. Flowers and chocolates are not the only things that surge ahead of Valentine’s Day—matches do too. Dating apps are increasingly integrated into daily digital routines, and this is clearly reflected in the data. According to the latest WOM Dataholics report, in February 2025 the use of these platforms increased by 23% compared to the same month the previous year, highlighting the growing momentum of people seeking to connect through their mobile devices.

Among these applications, Tinder took the crown in the lead-up to the date. In February 2025, the app increased its traffic by 52.9% compared to the same month in 2024, positioning itself as the season’s main player. It was followed by Grindr, with a 50% increase, and Bumble, with 34.5% growth.

And what happened this year? The activity was once again noticeable from the first days of February. In the first week alone, Tinder surpassed 2,000 GB of usage, while Bumble grew by 20% and Grindr by 42% compared to their reference period. In January 2026, these applications recorded increases of 34% and 50%, respectively.

A global trend

Throughout 2025, users in Chile allocated 538,563 GB to apps such as Tinder, Badoo, Bumble, Grindr, and Happn, confirming that swiping has become part of everyday digital life. “This figure is significant: it is equivalent, for example, to nearly 180,000 hours of high-definition video. This phenomenon is driven by the adoption of new technologies, the demand for new forms of interpersonal connection, and the convenience these applications offer for establishing relationships,” explained Kamila Dubó, Markets Director at WOM.

Globally, the trend follows the same path. According to Statista, the number of dating app users worldwide is projected to reach 440 million by 2027, consolidating this type of interaction as a widespread and permanent habit.

At the local level, May recorded the highest activity in 2025, with 54,452 GB, followed closely by July, suggesting that periods when routines change—such as winter holidays—also boost online connections.

Which region of Chile uses dating apps the most?

Digital love also has its geography. The Metropolitan Region and Valparaíso have led the use of these apps for the third consecutive year, while Biobío remains among the regions with the highest activity.

The most notable changes occurred in the middle of the ranking. La Araucanía recorded the largest jump within the top 10, rising from eighth to fourth place, while Maule moved up one position to fifth. In contrast, Coquimbo dropped two positions and Los Lagos fell one place compared to 2024.

In addition, Ñuble entered ninth place after rising from eleventh, pushing Los Ríos out of the top 10. Antofagasta, meanwhile, dropped one position to tenth place.
