- Under the direction of renowned national dancer Claudia Miranda, this activity highlighted dance as part of the community’s cultural heritage.
The song “Latinos” by the Dominican-American group Proyecto Uno has become a true icon of popular culture in Rancagua. In this context, WOM and the Municipality of Rancagua collaborated to bring together hundreds of neighbors and families in the Plaza de Los Héroes, where they danced the traditional choreography to celebrate local identity. Renowned national dancer and choreographer Claudia Miranda was in charge of teaching the steps and coordinating the participants.
“Dancing is an expression of joy, but also a way to unite us around community life. This choreography has become so ingrained in Rancagua life that it is danced at traditional festivals, weddings, and even in schools. Bringing so many people together to dance to this song in the city center is proof that we have a vibrant and living local culture”, said the choreographer.
The event was attended by influencers Pedro Canales and Rodrigo Fernández, alias “Otakin,” as well as beloved Rancagua comedian Iván Arenas, who interacted with the audience and explained the origins of this cultural phenomenon.}
In addition, contests and recreational activities were held in a family-friendly atmosphere, marking the start of the National Day celebrations in the heart of the O’Higgins Region. Hydration stations were also set up around the venue so that participants could refresh themselves after the choreography.
Rancagua and its popular “Latinos” dance will be featured in a special episode of the documentary series “Chile, es más WOM que nunca” (Chile is more WOM than ever), a production that highlights history and connects culture and traditions throughout the country.
