- In view of the massive arrival of people to the party, the telecommunications company reinforced its 5G mobile network by installing modular antennas, which allowed greater connectivity. In addition, waste containers and hydration points were implemented to improve the experience of the attendees.
La Tirana, July 17, 2025 – La Tirana is one of the most important religious and cultural celebrations in the country, in which thousands of pilgrims converge in the middle of the Tamarugal pampas. Understanding the relevance of this festivity in the Tarapacá Region, WOM reinforced its connectivity service with modular antennas that allow extending the 5G mobile coverage and thus ensuring a stable service during the celebration.
This type of temporary infrastructure is designed for high demand contexts and allows maintaining connectivity, even with a high flow of users. Likewise, this reinforcement of the mobile network service will allow a more robust connectivity and a stable network for those attending the Fiesta de la Tirana.
“La Tirana is much more than a religious celebration, it is a profound encounter between traditions and communities in a unique natural space. Together with the municipality of Pozo Almonte, we work to accompany this festival from a comprehensive perspective, providing various solutions and enhanced connectivity to keep people connected,” said Valeria Andía, WOM’s Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager.

Celebration beyond connectivity
In addition, the company set up hydration points for attendees to have access to drinking water, considering the high temperatures and the long days expected during the festival. It also installed waste containers to encourage care for the environment and the correct disposal of waste. The initiative aims to reduce the environmental impact generated by a celebration of this magnitude, promoting responsible and respectful habits with the natural environment and heritage of the Pampa del Tamarugal.
“Technology must go hand in hand with social commitment. Therefore, in addition to reinforcing connectivity during La Tirana, we implemented various solutions to care for the well-being of the attendees while protecting the environment. Our goal was to contribute to make this celebration more accessible and better connected, but also clean and respectful with the identity and heritage”, commented WOM’s Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager.
