Global 5G Connections Exceeded 2 Billion in 2024, Marking a 48% Year-over-Year Growth, According to 5G Americas and Omnia Data. Based on WOM’s 2024 Ranking, Brands like Motorola, Xiaomi, Apple, and Honor Stand Out as the Favorites of the Year.

Santiago, December 2024.– As the year comes to a close, the mobile phone industry begins its year-end assessments. This highly dynamic market has been marked by constant innovation in attributes, design, and functionality. In response, the variety of models offered this year has increased, with four brands occupying the top ten positions in WOM’s annual preference ranking.

One of the main features sought by customers, according to the ranking, is that devices include 5G technology. This is confirmed by the fact that currently, two out of every three customers are upgrading their devices to ones compatible with this technology.

“This year, we met the initial projections we set for this period, increasing demand for devices with higher storage capacity and access to 5G networks. The fact that our customers chose four brands within the TOP 10 reflects that the focus today is on the development and innovation of devices that offer unique and differentiating attributes for the direct benefit of users”, said Felipe Ayala, WOM’s Terminal Manager.

According to figures from Subtel, over 5 million 5G connections were recorded in Chile alone. This was certainly a key factor in consumers’ decisions to purchase a new smartphone during the year that is ending.
