According to the balance carried out by WOM between July and September on smartphone preferences in Chile, brands such as Motorola, Xiaomi and Honor are consolidated as the most demanded, during the third quarter of 2024.

Chile continues to be a dynamic market in the purchase of mobile technology. With this, competition among brands has been in direct proportion to the growing demand from customers, who tend to renew their smartphones every year and have become more demanding when buying a device.

According to Subtel data, there are 26.7 million cell phones in the country, which shows the reach of these products, with a penetration that exceeded 100% of Chile’s total population. This is accompanied by an increase in demand for 5G devices.

According to WOM data, 2 out of every 3 customers renew their phone for one with 5G and according to industry data, approximately 70% of mobile devices sold in Chile are equipped with this technology, reflecting the interest in accessing the best connectivity available.

This preference for 5G devices is also reflected in the latest ranking of WOM’s 10 best-selling phones during the third quarter of 2024. “We observe that people are looking for devices with better features than those they have been using, however, interest in 5G compatible devices is growing, in line with the trend in more consolidated markets. In addition to this, there are higher demands in terms of storage needs to facilitate different activities with the equipment”, said WOM’s Terminals Manager, Felipe Ayala.

Likewise, WOM identified that Motorola, Xiaomi and Honor phones are consolidated within the top 5 of the favorites.

Below is the list of the 10 best-selling phones in WOM (July to September 2024):

According to Subtel figures at the end of 2023, 5G connections reached 3.8 million, showing a growth of 88.5% compared to the end of 2022, which has meant that the connection through this technology has become a reality for the inhabitants of the country.

Currently, WOM has more than one million 5G customers and with the aim of bringing this technology even closer to all its customers, it offers a wide range of equipment with fifth generation technology starting at $140,000 pesos.
