WOM Chile introduces its new board of directors following its successful emergence from Chapter 11 under a new ownership structure. Mauricio Ramos assumes the role of Chairman of the Board of the company, with Chris Bannister, Eugene Davis, Claudio Muñoz, and Alejandro Puentes joining him. In addition to his position on the Board, Mr. Bannister will take on the role of CEO of WOM Chile.

Board Profiles

Mauricio Ramos (Chairman of the Board)

Mr. Ramos served as CEO of Millicom from April 2015 until May 2024. He was also a member of Millicom’s Board of Directors from 2020 to 2024 and Executive Chairman from 2023 to 2024. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Board of Charter Communications and is currently part of its Compensation Committee and Nomination and Governance Committee.

Before joining Millicom, he was President of Liberty Global’s Latin American division, a role he held from 2006 to February 2015. During his time at Liberty Global, Mauricio held several leadership positions, including President and CEO of VTR in Chile, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Liberty’s Latin America division, and President of Liberty Puerto Rico.

He holds Colombian and US citizenship, with degrees in Economics and Law, as well as a postgraduate qualification in Financial Law from the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá.

Chris Bannister

Mr. Bannister is an experienced telecommunications executive, known for his transformative leadership at WOM. With a career spanning several decades, he had a significant impact as CEO of Play in Poland, where he successfully led the market. He later replicated this success in Chile by transforming Nextel into WOM.

Chris subsequently served as CEO of WOM Colombia for several years before rejoining WOM Chile in October 2023, ahead of the company’s restructuring process in early 2024. During much of the Chapter 11 process, he worked as an advisor to the Ad Hoc Group of Unsecured Bondholders and has now returned to WOM Chile as CEO.

Eugene Davis

Mr. Davis is President and CEO of PIRINATE Consulting Group, LLC, a private consulting firm specialising in restructuring, corporate governance, crisis management, and strategic advisory for public and private companies.

Before founding PIRINATE Consulting, Mr. Davis served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Total-Tel Communications, Inc., Vice President and CEO of Sport Supply Group, Inc., and Vice President and President of Emerson Radio Corporation (all public companies). In each of these roles, he led teams that restructured the companies’ financials (both inside and outside bankruptcy proceedings), designing and implementing new strategic and tactical plans that successfully increased shareholder value.

Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Politics, a Master’s in International Affairs, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Columbia University. He remains involved with Columbia College as a member of its Board of Visitors.

Claudio Muñoz

Mr. Muñoz developed his professional career at Telefónica, where he held various executive roles in Spain and Chile. He was Chairman of Telefónica in Chile until April 2018.

He is currently Chairman of the Board of Aguas Andinas S.A., Chairman of the Board of Corona S.A. (a Chilean retail company), and a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering at the Universidad del Desarrollo. He is also Chairman of Chapter Zero Chile, an initiative in collaboration with the World Economic Forum to combat climate change.

Since November 2021, he has been part of the Board of the Chilean Safety Association (ACHS). He is also Chairman of the Business Collaboration Centre at the Universidad del Desarrollo, Director of the La Protectora de la Infancia Foundation, and Chairman of its Educational Foundation.

He was recognised as Executive of the Year in Chile in 2014, received the Management Award from the Chilean Engineers Association in 2015, and was honoured with the Order of Merit in 2017 by the World Council of Education. He is Chilean and holds a degree in Industrial Civil Engineering from the Universidad de Chile.

Alejandro Puentes

Mr. Puentes is a Partner, CEO, and Head of Wealth Advisory at Altis, a boutique investment bank specialising in middle-market transactions in Chile and Latin America. He is a professional with extensive experience in finance and investments, with deep expertise in corporate finance, wealth advisory, private investments, deal structuring, strategic planning, and high-level negotiations.

He serves on the boards of several companies across different industries, including finance, real estate, retail, early education, and fisheries.

Mr. Puentes holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he graduated with distinction.
