Santiago, 5 November 2025. – During the third quarter of the year, technology consumption habits and digital preferences in Chile revealed clear trends: mobile data use remains heavily focused on streaming and gaming, alongside growing demand for smartphones offering greater memory, 5G connectivity, and access to artificial intelligence.
“We are witnessing the consolidation of consumer preferences, both in their choice of devices and in their digital consumption habits. Streaming and gaming dominate mobile internet use, promoting more personalised experiences. At the same time, users seek devices that suit this lifestyle, offering performance, storage, and smart tools that enhance their digital experience,” explained Kamila Dubó, Market Director at WOM Chile.
Mobile data use: users prioritise personalised entertainment
The WOM Dataholics study shows that during the third quarter, total mobile internet traffic among the company’s customers reached approximately 458,000 GB. This is equivalent to more than five years of continuous video playback in 4K quality — a figure that illustrates the intensity of digital consumption.
When looking at the ranking of the most used apps overall, TikTok remains in first place, with a 30% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024, followed by YouTube and Instagram. All these platforms have strengthened their video-based content, reflecting a sustained upward trend.
Regarding streaming for films and series, the most-used applications were YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+, with the latter showing the greatest growth — a 63% rise compared to the same quarter in 2024.
Gaming, meanwhile, represents another key segment within mobile internet traffic. Call of Duty ranked first, with an impressive 236% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The popular Activision title was followed by Fortnite, Clash Royale, League of Legends, and Clash of Clans, highlighting a marked rise in users’ preference for this type of interactive entertainment.
Top 10 smartphones: balance between connectivity and AI access
During the third quarter, consumers paid particular attention to new smartphone models, in a period marked by major global brands’ announcements and product launches.
The Chilean market is increasingly competitive, with informed users seeking high-quality devices and advanced features. Upper mid-range smartphones from four major brands currently lead consumer preferences, combining 5G connectivity, over 128 GB of storage, and access to AI tools — features valued for their versatility and performance, providing a balance between budget and capability.
According to the report, the most purchased phones by WOM customers between July and September 2025 were:
