Santiago, October 2026.- According to the latest report from the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel) with figures as of June 2026, WOM maintains a solid second place in mobile connections, with a 24.3% market share, and continues to consolidate its position as a structural player in the country with more than 6,500 proprietary antennas nationwide.
The increase in connected users and the maturing of their consumption habits continue to drive mobile data usage in Chile. Demonstrating this, the company’s data traffic grew 10.3% year-over-year during the third quarter of 2026, exceeding 505 million GB used. July stood out during this period—coinciding with winter break—as the month with the highest consumption, reaching a total of over 173 million GB, which also represents a 15% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.
Along the same lines, Subtel’s figures confirm WOM’s relevance in the sector, placing it in second place for mobile data traffic nationwide, with a 25.6% market share.
“We have a network of more than 6,500 proprietary antennas that continues to grow, and we keep investing to respond to high digital consumption with the fast, reliable, and high-quality connectivity that people demand. We were pioneers in launching Planes SIMPLE—with clear pricing and benefits for everyone—within a highly competitive industry. Holding second place in mobile connections demonstrates that customers value a complete experience that combines closeness, tangible solutions, and ease in every interaction,” stated Pablo Miranda, Director of Brand, Communications, and Sustainability at WOM.
According to a report conducted by WOM, this increase in mobile data traffic is primarily driven by the growth of social media and video platforms. Streaming—one of the preferred uses among consumers—led consumption in the third quarter, accounting for 55% of the company’s total traffic. Additionally, this category recorded a 6.1% increase in data usage compared to the same period the previous year.
Web browsing followed, representing 24% of the total. This is due to people increasingly carrying out everyday activities on their mobile phones, replacing tasks previously done in person, such as payments, shopping, or administrative errands.
Users’ preference for audiovisual formats was also reflected in the ranking of the most used applications during the third quarter. YouTube led total traffic with 15%, followed closely by TikTok (14%), Instagram (13%), and Facebook (11%). Furthermore, the platforms with the highest traffic growth per user were Instagram (+32%), Facebook (+15%), and YouTube (+10%).
