January 2026 – In response to the emergencies affecting various parts of the country, WOM has proactively reinforced its connectivity measures and is keeping its Emergency Committee active. The goal is to safeguard service continuity and support people in critical situations, where communication is essential for safety and coordination.

Regarding the wildfires in the Ñuble, Biobío, and La Araucanía regions, our company deeply regrets the situation faced by the affected communities. From the very beginning, we activated our technical and operational teams to implement concrete actions for the benefit of our customers and residents in these areas.

As part of these measures, two mobile units (antennas) were deployed to strengthen coverage at strategic locations: one in front of the Tomé Municipality building and another at the Penco-Lirquén Hospital, a key healthcare facility and aid distribution center during the emergency. This action helped reinforce connectivity in high-demand areas with intensive use of communication services.

Additionally, starting Sunday, January 18, we enabled free WhatsApp traffic and call minutes in the Biobío and Ñuble regions for all prepaid customers living in affected municipalities, and we also reactivated service for customers who had been suspended. These same measures were promptly implemented in the La Araucanía Region once its potential risk was identified.

All these actions have been communicated and updated through WOM’s official channels — website, mobile app, social media, and text messages — while also reinforcing the recommendation to keep national roaming active during emergency situations as an additional tool to ensure connectivity.

Emergency Committee and ongoing monitoring

WOM has an Emergency Committee made up of teams from different areas of the company. This committee is activated during events like these and meets daily while the emergencies remain ongoing. It continuously monitors the situation in the affected regions and coordinates actions with field teams, helping identify the needs of both employees and impacted communities.

The company highlights the commitment of its teams and WOMers, who work in a coordinated manner to respond promptly and responsibly in highly complex scenarios, understanding that emergencies require preparedness, speed, and a people-centered approach.
