- The initiative projects more than 100 new mobile after-sales jobs by 2027. With this move, the company returns to its roots to stay closer to people and reaffirms its commitment to the country’s development.
Coquimbo, November 3 – Aiming to repatriate customer service operations previously handled overseas and foster regional growth, WOM has opened a new Customer Service Center in Coquimbo dedicated to mobile after-sales care, primarily focused on hiring professionals over the age of 50.
The new operation is projected to create more than 100 formal jobs by 2027, adding to the over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs the company already generates in Chile. With this milestone, the telecom company—the second-largest mobile operator in the domestic market—reaffirms its long-term commitment to the country’s socioeconomic development and intergenerational workplace inclusion.
“This Customer Service Center reflects our spirit as a company: we want to be closer to people and provide the best service at a fair price. As a company born in Chile, we are bringing customer support operations previously handled abroad back home because we want to return to our roots while driving local development through new job opportunities,” said Andrés Ok, CEO of WOM.
The commitment to senior talent addresses critical national challenges, such as population aging and labor inclusion, while serving as a strategic decision that generates clear business value. Through this new customer care center, WOM is not only unlocking regional job opportunities, but also recognizing the track record and contributions of a segment that often faces re-entry barriers and skill gaps caused by rapid technological acceleration.
This initiative is especially timely given the regional employment landscape. According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), unemployment in the Coquimbo Region hit 9% in the July–September 2026 rolling quarter, underscoring the urgent need for formal job creation.
“For WOM, bringing on senior talent is a strategic move that delivers tangible value. Their experience and skill set help build relationships of trust with our customers, which is positively reflected in the company’s bottom line. This demonstrates that seasoned experience is vital to our future growth,” added WOM’s CEO.
