- The launch brought together top executives from WOM, Copec, and Sodimac—three companies recognised, following the first Radiografía de la Conciencia Empresarial en Chile (Corporate Consciousness Overview), for leading the way towards a more coherent, responsible, and socially conscious approach to business.
Santiago, June 2026. – At a time when businesses face growing demands for legitimacy, trust, and concrete evidence of their contribution to society, the Observatorio de la Conciencia Empresarial (Corporate Consciousness Observatory) and the Centro de Políticas Públicas UC (UC Public Policy Centre) have launched the Sello de la Conciencia Empresarial (Corporate Consciousness Seal). This tool is designed to measure and recognise coherence between purpose, management, and action in the corporate world.
The initiative marks a new step in the collaborative work between both institutions, following the Radiografía de la Conciencia Empresarial en Chile, a study that analysed 100 large companies across various economic sectors using public information reported on websites, annual reports, and other corporate documents.
Among its key findings, the research revealed a medium-high level of reported corporate consciousness among the companies analysed. However, it also identified significant gaps in dimensions such as purpose, market demand orientation, and management models. Furthermore, it showed that actions linked to the environment and employee relations appear to be more deeply embedded in corporate reporting.
The Seal aims to drive a rigorous conversation within the business sector: merely declaring purpose, corporate social responsibility, or environmental commitment is no longer enough. Companies must demonstrate, with evidence, how these definitions translate into decisions, management practices, and value creation from within their core business operations.
“For years, we have been convinced that being a conscious company is not an image attribute, but a way of operating. This seal is precisely that: an instrument that demands proof of coherence, rather than just declaring it. We want it to become a reference standard for the Chilean business world, because companies that act with coherence build more trust, create more value, and have a greater impact on society,” noted Alexis Camhi, founder of the Observatorio de la Conciencia Empresarial.
The launch brought together Andrés Ok, COO of WOM; Arturo Natho, CEO of Copec; and Sebastián Simonetti, CEO of Sodimac Chile—companies recognised as benchmarks for a viable path forward in corporate consciousness. Claudia González, a UC academic, also participated in a panel discussion moderated by Alexis Camhi.
The methodology evaluated eight dimensions, 33 variables, and 40 comparable indicators across companies. This approach aims to deliver an assessment that identifies progress, gaps, and areas for improvement, providing a roadmap to strengthen corporate coherence.
In line with this, the seal highlights the ability of organisations to transform their purpose into high-value initiatives. “Connectivity is a key enabler for the socio-economic development of the country. Therefore, when we see the impact it has on people’s lives, we at WOM understand that creating opportunities goes far beyond a purpose statement; it becomes a responsibility that must translate into concrete actions,” stated Andrés Ok, COO of WOM.
“From an academic perspective, we have a responsibility to put knowledge at the service of real-world issues. This alliance with the Observatorio de la Conciencia Empresarial is an example of how universities can engage with the private sector to create tools that generate a tangible public good: greater transparency, higher demands, and better standards for companies operating in Chile,” highlighted Ignacio Irarrázaval, Director of the Centro de Políticas Públicas UC.
