- With the collaboration and experience of Qualcomm, WOM positions itself at the forefront of technology incorporation, becoming the first operator to implement 1024 QAM in its 5G network in Chile.
Santiago, June 2026.- Within the framework of the constant evolution of mobile networks in Chile and as part of its commitment to innovation, WOM began testing on its 5G network with 1024 QAM technology, an advanced modulation technique that allows a significant increase in the amount of information transmitted in each signal, increasing network capacity and speed.
The pilot phase, which has the backing of Qualcomm, is being carried out on WOM’s 5G network, without the need to modify physical infrastructure, which allows enhancing the performance of the existing network through latest-generation technologies.
The integration of 1024 QAM into WOM’s 5G network translates into a technological evolution that allows high-end devices enabled for these types of capabilities to experience improvements in their data download speed under optimal conditions.
Thanks to the launch of these technical verifications in demonstration mode, WOM is positioning itself at the forefront of the adoption of next-generation technologies, driving the development of advanced capabilities in mobile connectivity in Chile.
“Technology advances rapidly, and we have a key role in this evolution. In this context, the start of tests on our 5G network confirms our commitment to innovation and to delivering the best service experience by optimizing the performance of our network, higher speed, and lower latency,” highlights Stefan Evergard, CTIO of WOM.
It is worth mentioning that these improvements are being verified with high-end mobile devices from the Honor and Xiaomi brands, which are already equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platforms and are compatible with advanced 5G capabilities.
Currently, WOM has more than 6,400 of its own antennas in the country and continues to drive new technological capabilities aimed at strengthening connectivity and digital evolution for the benefit of millions of people.
